Constitution of the United States 2008

Just when you thought it was safe to come out of hiding.

It has been a long time since I majored in political science in college.

And it appears since that time the Constitution has undergone some little-noted changes.

At first I thought it was just a redaction of some of the amendments in the bill-of-rights - obviously in these times of "crisis" we can not allow little things like the fourth amendment to stand in the way of catching terrorists like the soldiers in Iraq whose VERY explicit phone calls to their spouses or significant others at home provide such titillation for the denizens of the NSA.

Then I learned that the founders never meant that silly thing about the role of the Vice President. Being President-pro-tempore and tie-breaker in the Senate REALLY means RUNNING THE SENATE. Even the beloved Dick Cheney never got THAT memo.

But the latest redaction - this time of the first amendment - threw me.

NOW it is a violation of a politician's first amendment rights to publicly question her lies, half-truths, and complete fabrications.

I am beginning each day to feel more and more like the prisoner in Kafka's Trial.
