Background

Rudi Diezmann is a technical engineering executive who brings with him thirty years of solid experience spanning all aspects of software development. His computer involvement started with mainframe operating systems development and has kept pace with the industry's evolution, moving to smaller, more nimble platforms ranging from enterprise servers to consumer hand held devices.

In addition, Rudi has extensive experience in international environments, including a two year assignment in Tokyo.

During the last 13 years he has managed offshore software development teams in every startup he was involved with, including teams in India, the Philippines, Russia, China, Bulgaria and France.

Rudi has always maintained currency with technological developments and demonstrated a knack for anticipating trends. He moved to object-oriented development over twelve years ago, and successfully lobbied Apple to join OMG in 1991. His participation in the development of CORBA resulted in a solid understanding of component architecture. He has been implementing service oriented architectures for the last decade.

Rudi has served in various engineering and management capacities for companies that include Apple Computer, Cisco, Honeywell Information Systems, Oracle and Sperry Univac. He also successfully ran his own consulting and software development company for over seven years.

Throughout his career Rudi has kept one foot in each camp, maintaining "roll-up-the-sleeves" engineering skills while advancing on an engineering management track.

As an engineer Rudi introduced the concept of completely unstructured text retrieval systems to the PC community in 1984 with a product that Byte magazine referred to as a significant development in information management in its lengthy article about FactFinder™.

As a manager Rudi has led development teams as small as three top-notch engineers and he has also managed departments with over a hundred engineers distributed in four countries.

During his tenure as director of product development for Apple in Tokyo, Rudi streamlined the processes and the organization resulting in budget reductions of 30% while maintaining a project load that increased by 50% during the same period.

More recently at the Dialog Corporation Rudi faced and met the challenge of integrating two very diverse sets of programmers from two merged companies -; the MAID group in London and the KRII group in Mountain View, with very different styles, cultures, and practices.

At Adobe he was responsible for the building the initial team and then leading the development of the first server product, later called Live Cycle, that Adobe introduced into the market place.

In his first venture backed startup Rudi managed the task of transitioning a classic shrink-wrap desktop product to success in an intra-net and ASP world.

In other ventures, Rudi managed the development of distributed online text translation systems, one of the first internet based remote storage systems., fail-safe systems to prevent corporate electronic communications breakdowns due to MS Exchange outages, and an MP3 and video hand-held consumer product.

Rudi has throughout his career demonstrated an ability to develop motivated, directed, and productive teams. On multiple occasions Rudi has been asked to take on demoralized groups and has successfully encouraged them to excel.

In summary, Rudi is an energetic and effective executive capable of developing and implementing major systems that form the core of a successful business strategy.
